ABOUT
US
Marshall
K. Zimny
Head Instructor
Marshall
is an instructor with Black Belts in Combat Hapkido and TaeKwonDo
with additional training in the defensive art of Aikido. He
proudly served nine years in the US Air Force as a combat
air controller. Living everywhere from Florida to Alaska as
well as some years in Europe gave him the opportunity to experience
many different peoples and cultures.
He began
martial arts training with his sons in 2001 with the idea
that he could share in an activity that would help them physically
and mentally prepare for the future. While TaeKwonDo is a
great "sport" martial art teaching wonderful core
values, he felt that their skills in real life street self
defense were lacking. COMBAT HAPKIDO has exceeded his expectations
with it's simple, practical and fundamental uses of techniques
compiled from many disciplines.
Marshall
said "Training fellow students not only helps to keep
my techniques fluid and sharp, but keeps me humble by reminding
me that I also am a student on a path to greater achievement".
Frank
Gomez
Assistant Instructor
Frank
Gomez' first experience with martial arts was as a child when
he enrolled in a Judo class. Since then he served as a Coast
Guard officer where he completed Maritime Law Enforcement
certification which included defensive tactics and escort
techniques. After that he was a boarding officer on the Coast
Guard Cutter Vigorous and completed dozens of law enforcement
boardings for regulation of fisheries and drug interdiction.
He discovered
Combat Hapkido in early 2007 and immediately made a commitment
to it because it was the first time he felt that he was studying
something that would be effective in real life situations.
He studied under Master Jason Landaas in Asheville, NC and
with Marshall Zimny and Chris Warren at our school in Sarasota.
Currently he is continuing to refine his skills by working
with Marshall every week. He loves teaching and helps new
students as needed.
